The Second Life Project: Sustaining Our Local Craft Community

From Forest to Finish: Our Commitment to the Circular Economy

At Gus Bishop Tree Services, our responsibility to the environment doesn’t end once a tree is safely dismantled. We believe that every piece of wood we harvest has a story that deserves a second chapter.

To reduce waste and lower our carbon footprint, we operate a circular economy initiative. Instead of processing high-quality timber into industrial waste, we donate select arb logs to local woodcrafters and artisan businesses across East Yorkshire. By keeping our wood within the community, we eliminate "wood-miles" and support the incredible heritage of British woodworking.

Our Partnership: Gus Bishop x East Yorkshire Woodturners

We are incredibly proud to be a partner for the East Yorkshire Woodturners (EYWT).

By providing the club with a steady stream of locally sourced logs, we help ensure that traditional woodturning skills continue to thrive in our region. Seeing our logs transformed from raw material into intricate bowls, vases, and art pieces is the ultimate reward for our team.

Are You a Local Artisan?

We are always looking for new ways to support the maker community. While we have limited availability based on our current projects, we welcome enquiries from local woodworkers, furniture makers, and schools.

Interested in sourcing sustainable arb logs? We’d love to discuss how we can support your next project.

Below is a showcase of what happens when professional arboriculture meets local craftsmanship. These pieces have all been created by our partners using timber sourced directly from our local tree surgery projects.
