Terms and Conditions of Service

1. The Agreement

These terms apply to all quotes provided and work undertaken by Gus Bishop Tree Services. By accepting a quote, you (the Client) are entering into a contract with us.

2. Quotes and Estimates

  • All quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

  • Quotes are based on a visual inspection of the site. We reserve the right to amend the price if unforeseen circumstances arise (e.g., hidden metal in a trunk or underground obstructions).

3. Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) & Conservation Areas

  • We do check local resources to see if the Clients trees are protected by a TPO or within a Conservation Area. However, it is the Client’s final responsibility to inform us if the trees are protected by a TPO or are within a Conservation Area.

  • We can assist with local authority applications, but work cannot begin until acceptance of the quote sent to the Client has been confirmed and formal written permission is granted from the Council.

  • Please note, it is illegal for for any other companies to use Gus Bishop Tree Services applications for themselves.

4. Site Access and Preparation

  • The Client must ensure clear access to the trees and that the work area is clear of vehicles, garden furniture, and pet waste. Gus Bishop Tree Services, are happy to help the Client move garden furniture/plant pots within reason.

  • We are not liable for damage to lawns, paths, or driveways caused by the necessary movement of heavy machinery or falling timber, though we will take all reasonable care to minimize impact.

  • If any changes have been made to the site between the day of receiving a quote from Gus Bishop Tree Services and the day of the work, Gus Bishop Tree Services must be informed by the Client immediately to avoid cancellation of the work.

5. Underground Services

  • It is the Client’s responsibility to inform us of the location of any underground pipes, cables, or utility lines. Gus Bishop Tree Services will not be held liable for damage to underground services that were not clearly marked or disclosed prior to work starting.

6. Neighbors and Boundaries

  • If a tree stands on a boundary or requires access via a neighbor’s property, it is the Client’s responsibility to obtain the necessary permission. We assume all such permissions are in place before arrival.

7. Cancellations

  • We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations. Failure to provide notice may result in a "call-out fee" of a minimum £150, to cover lost labor and equipment costs.

8. Zero Tolerance Policy

  • Gus Bishop Tree Services operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of abusive, offensive, or threatening behavior (verbal or physical) directed toward our staff or sub-contractors.

  • In the event of such behavior, we reserve the right to immediately cease all work and remove our team and equipment from the site.

  • In these circumstances, the contract will be deemed terminated by the Client’s breach of conduct. The full remaining balance of the quoted price will become due immediately to cover lost labor, overheads, and scheduled time.

  • We reserve the right to pursue payment through legal proceedings or a debt recovery agency if the balance is not settled, and we will report any criminal behavior to the police.

9. Payment

  • Payment is due immediately upon completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • We accept [e.g., Bank Transfer, Cash, or Card].

10. Insurance

  • Gus Bishop Tree Services maintains full Public Liability Insurance (up to £5,000,000).
